Course Type Under graduate- engineering
Duration 8 semesters- 4 years
Approvals AICTE, Govt of Karnataka
Apart from pioneering achievements of MIT, the alumni of the Civil engineering department have been successful professionals who have carved a niche for themselves, throughout Karnataka. Apart from a distinguished faculty, the department has well equipped laboratories and other support infrastructure that is constantly upgraded to adapt to changing technologies.
This, combined with the systematic teaching methodology and syllabus in line with the current technology, has ensured excellent results in examinations. There are ample opportunities for those inclined towards research as well, with experienced faculty and a wealth of resources.
Civil engineering is a prominent and oldest branch of engineering which deals with buildings, bridges, roads, railways, water supply, sanitary, development of townships and other infrastructural development. Due to liberalisation policy of government, many infrastructure projects like golden quadrilateral, national highway constructions and transport sector development have the need of civil engineers. Many multinationals are engaged in the infrastructure developmental activities. The job opportunities are in civil engineering fields and software companies. Analytical and logical abilities and liking for the profession are the essential requirements. Subjects on concrete technology, transport engineering, water supply and sanitary engineering, geotechnical engineering, fluid mechanics and machinery, structural mechanics. Hydrology and water resources, irrigation engineering are studied in this course.
Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2010 with an intake of 60. Department has well qualified and experienced teaching faculty and technical staff with state of the art laboratories to meet the quality education required for present challenging societal and industrial needs.
|“To make each disciple of this discipline a complete civil engineer who could contribute to the technical upgrading and progress of the nation”|
|1. To fulfill the vision by imparting academic excellence and leadership qualities in the students this would benefit them and their employers to great extent to fulfill the missing link between academics and industry.
2. To instill entrepreneurship and leadership qualities to build the nation.

|FACILITIES AND INFRASTRUCTURE|
|MITM is aiming to provide world class infrastructure and so has taken initiative in setting up different laboratory for different subjects like survey practice, hydraulics, concrete technology, computer aided drawing etc. Department also has the required systems and application software’s to cater the needs of conduction of laboratories. Precise instruments like total station, theodolite, levelling instruments etc are available for survey practice.|
