Maharaja Institute of Technology, Mysore.
Since its inception in 2022, our department has been dedicated to offering a dynamic and

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) at Maharaja Institute of Technology, Mysore, was established in 2022 with an intake of 60 students. Led by Dr.
PUSHPA D and experienced academic and industry professional, the department is dedicated
to providing high-quality education and fostering research and innovation. Our well-qualified
faculty members actively organize conferences, workshops, and seminars to keep students
updated with the latest advancements in data science. The department is equipped with state-
of-the-art laboratories that support research and hands-on learning, meeting the standards set
by AICTE and VTU Belagavi. We also regularly invite experts from academia and industry for guest lectures, ensuring our students receive a comprehensive and industry-relevant
education.
Program Educational Objectives
- POE1: Capable of building a robust foundation in the fields of computer science and data
science domains. - POE2: Be able to actively engage in cutting-edge research, apply data science methodologies
to solve real-world problems, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and
professional growth. - POE3: Graduates will lead ethically, collaborate effectively, and drive innovation in
multidisciplinary teams, contributing to societal and technological progress.
Program Specific Outcome (PSO)
- PSO1: Apply solid foundation in computer science and data science principles, enabling the
design, development, and implementation of data-driven solutions for complex engineering
challenges. - PSO2: Analyse, Design, implement, and apply data-centric techniques, including machine
learning, data mining, and statistical analysis, to solve real-world problems across various domains, while maintaining professional and ethical standards in communication and conduct.
Vision
To be recognized as a leading data science program that excels in education, fosters innovative research, and cultivates an entrepreneurial spirit to address real-world challenges through data-driven solutions.
Mission
- To equip students with systematic learning in the field of computer science and gain
comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in data science through dedicated teaching and
immersive learning experiences. - To advance innovative research in data science, focusing on solving complex problems
across various disciplines such as science, engineering, and management. - To foster entrepreneurial and ethical practices in data science through strong institute-
industry collaborations and active alumni engagement.
Infrastructure
The department is a R&D center for Ph.D students. This center is approved by Visvesvarya Technology Institute and Mysore University. The department has highly competent faculty. Several professors in the department have Ph.D degrees.

- Image Processing, Pattern recognition and Computer Vision
- Computer Networks
- Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.
- Machine Learning
The CSE department has a modest department library which houses a small number of popularly referenced texts, with the aim of providing ready access for the students and faculty.
