The department of APPLIED CHEMISTRY was started in the year 2007. It aims at imparting quality education and providing individual care to all of the students, while playing an active role in their overall development. Since its inception, the department has maintained good academic results and extended greater contributions to other developing activities of the college.

Applied Chemistry is a subject that is included for First Year students as Per VTU curriculum. It deals with the fundamental concepts of various branches of Chemistry such as Organic, Inorganic, Analytical, Physical, Bio Chemistry and Nano Technology etc.

Applied Chemistry is a bridge that connects pure science with engineering practices. It aims at providing a strong foundation for students of engineering and is one of the indispensable departments of the Institute. The department has well equipped laboratories which enable faculty and students to employ the fundamental concepts and principles to create innovations and upgrade technologies.

The research activities taken up by the faculty in the department include areas, such as analytical chemistry, drug designing and analysis, photochemical investigations, medicinal chemistry and Nano technology. The department extends its expertise and facilities to the local community, industries and academic institutions through its services like consultancy, training programs, food adulteration testing etc.
