The Department of Physics, founded in 2007, offers an important foundation course, Engineering Physics, for any Engineering Stream. The Department has a well-established laboratory for thirty students in the Batch. The faculties of the department are competent and specialized in the field of condensed matter physics, solid state and nuclear physics.

The Department is proud to be one of the leading research departments in the institution. It has been officially recognized as a research center by the Visveswarya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, for its Ph.D. program. The Advance Research Center was established in 2011 and further upgraded with the sponsored research grant and support from DAE-BRNS, Mumbai; UGC-DAE-CSR, Indore; SERB-DST, New Delhi and MRF-MIT Mysore. The Research Center is equipped with state-of – the-art research equipment for the growth of bulk and nano-scale oxide materials. The development of a low-temperature laboratory for electrical and magnetic measurements is underway. The Department also has a well-established collaboration with the National and International Advanced Research Institute for specific characterization.

The Department has received three (one completed) major sponsored research projects worth Rs. 65 Lakhs. Currently, five Research Scholars are pursuing Ph.D. and one is awarded Ph.D. degree. The Faculty members and Research Scholars have published research papers in High Impact Peer reviewed Journals and conferences with National and International Repute. The faculty members and research scholars often visit various national and international laboratories for acquaintance of expertise in their field of Research.

Physics is a significant branch of our educational system and of a radical society. It stimulates young mind and amplifies the frontiers of our understanding about natural world and creates fundamental knowledge desirable for the future technological advances that will continue to drive the economic engines of the world.

At MITM campus, we provide Engineering Physics course to Bachelor of Engineering (BE) students of all Engineering branches of the Intuition.  Additionally, we also offer Ph.D. program in Physics and provide pleasing platform for undertaking research. We endeavor for research at the forefront of the frontiers of knowledge in our field.  Fellowship is offered to the Research Scholars through grants received from various funding agency of Government of India; as well as from Maharaja Research Foundation (MRF) established at MITM campus for Ph.D. program.

Come visit us. We are welcoming and on the evolution, beholding en route forimminent.

A major of Engineering Physics focuses on the use of physics when analyzing and evaluating engineering problems. You will learn computational physics, superconductivity, and applied thermodynamics, how materials react in high and low temperature, and space science research.

Vision

Empower students with the knowledge and ability to solve problems of Physics in the field of Technical Education and Research.

Mission

  • To provide students with strong foundation in Physics through comprehensive learning environment.
